Interesting Quote

I came by this in the book I'm currently reading:

"I think I have learned, in some degree at least, to disregard the old maxim which says, 'Do not get others to do that which you can do yourself.' My motto, on the other hand, is, 'Do not do that which others can do as well.'" (Booker T. Washington, Up from Slavery, New York: Signet Classic, 181)

Especially as the holiday season gets nearer, I have to remind myself that even though I can do it cheaper, better, and cuter, that still means I have to do it. Just because I can do something, doesn't mean that it's not OK to just buy one from the store. I'm just glad that last year's Halloween costumes still fit and I don't have to kill myself to get everyone a cute costume. And they're already paid for--double bonus! So that's my thought of the day. I can still be super mom without doing everything. By the way, it's a really good book, and if you haven't ever read it, I highly recommend it.

I've picked that book up a couple of times because it looked interesting... I'll have to read it. I'm trying John Adams right now (which I am enjoying when I get a small minute) because here we are in Philadelphia, the cradle of Independence!
