The Mommy Zone

I have now entered the Mommy zone--you all know that place where you haven't slept for days (weeks...months...) and the kitchen is covered with dirty dishes because when you actually get a chance to wash them, you spend the time instead yelling things like: Stop hitting, let your brother have a turn, be quiet the baby's sleeping, and my favorite, get that out of your mouth. So needless to say things have been a little crazy around here, but there's always cuteness in the craziness. I'm writing this because I found Anne Marie sucking on her sock and for some reason (read: lack of sleep) I thought it was hilarious that she had pulled off her sock and decided to chew on it. Babies are great--she's either driving me crazy or saving my sanity. The tears I can get through and the smiles melt my heart. So anyway, welcome to the Mommy Zone!

It amazes me the things we say as mothers that we swore we'd never say, or that sound completely ridiculus. I swear I spent an entire summer telling my then 3 or 4 year old to "stop licking the pool deck" and "stop licking your sister"! Who wouldv'e seen those coming?

By the way, your family is darling!

Oh, I am SO there! Our sweet, wonderful, cheerful 8 month old STILL doesn't sleep through the night... and neither does our bright, sneaky, wonderful 3 year old for that matter!
You are right on that the smiles get you through- sometimes I just give the baby a little squeeze and everything feels like it will be okay!

All we can do it take it a day at a time I guess. Jaycee cries about 90 percent of the day. She'll stop if I pick her up but I just can't do that for 12 hours a day. Oh, the good ole' mommy zone. You're so right about everything in your post! You're such a great mom - and your family is so awesome. I am so glad that we get to be neighbors.
